We will not sell, share, or rent this information to others in ways different from what is disclosed in this statement. Pier71wines.com collects information from our customers at several different points on our website for order fulfillment, our contact form, comments, wine club, and newsletter subscriptions.

Comments

When visitors leave comments on the site we collect the data shown in the comments form, and also the visitor’s IP address and browser user agent string to help spam detection.

An anonymized string created from your email address (also called a hash) may be provided to the Gravatar service to see if you are using it. The Gravatar service privacy policy is available here: https://automattic.com/privacy/. After approval of your comment, your profile picture is visible to the public in the context of your comment.

We request information from the customer on our order form via our Shopping Cart. Here a customer must provide contact information like name, phone, email address, billing, and shipping address. This information is used to fill customers’ orders. If we have trouble processing an order, this contact information is used to get in touch with the customer.

Our Shopping Cart orders and wine club signups from our website are processed by VinoShipper, https://vinoshipper.com/shop/pier71_wines.

 

Website Security Encryption (SSL)

This website takes every precaution to protect our customers’ information. When customers submit sensitive information via the website, their information is protected both online and offline.

When our registration/order form asks customers to enter sensitive information that information is encrypted and is protected with the best encryption software in the industry – SSL. All of our web pages are secure. For example, in our URL, https://www.pier71wines.com, the (s) show the URL is secure. In most cases, you will also see the lock icon in many of the Web browsers.

While we use SSL encryption to protect sensitive information online, we also do everything in our power to protect customer information offline. All of our customers’ information, not just the sensitive information mentioned above, is restricted in our offices and order fulfillment centers. Only employees who need the information to perform a specific job (for example, our billing department or a customer service representative) are granted access to personally identifiable information.
